Gas Reward Cards

Gas Credit Cards are an option you have among several.  Most credit cards on the market today are going to offer you more than just a line of credit.  They are going to offer you rewards of some type.  The gas rewards cards are very important in today’s times.  Oil prices continue to rise in the middle east making it very hard for all of us to pay the bills, even our petrol bills.  Having a credit card that will enable us to save a little money at the pump or on certain items is something we need to consider.

There are plenty of credit card issuers offering these types of cards.  In fact Citibank is one of card companies offering a gas rewards card.  They have the Shell MasterCard offering 3 percent back on fuel purchases in Great Britain.  They also offer 1 percent rebate when you use the card for other purchases.  It does take a little bit of time to get the rewards as you need to purchase gas to get the rewards.  Once the rewards reach a certain percentage of cash back such as 20 pounds, you get to elect what type of rebate you would like.  Since this particular card is a Shell card they usually send the card rewards as Shell purchases only.

There are other rewards with this type of card.  From Shell you can expect to have zero percent APR on the balance transfers for 12 months.  This allows you to transfer money to a better card if need be.  Of course it may not be a better card, but chances are the card you have now will not allow for a lower percentage rate, meaning anything near zero is going to be better.  After the introductory period is over, the annual percentage rate will be 16.9 percent for those with good or excellent credit scores and no arrears.

Most of the gas cards will not have an annual fee which makes them even more appealing.  Some of the gas cards will be tied into other options.  For example the business travel card offers gas rewards for the company.  It enables the employee to purchase gas on the credit card rather than using money from their own pocket.  Some of the personal travel cards will also offer this travel and gas rewards card as well.

To determine what credit card is better for you and your family you should compare the options you have.  Just the gas rewards and the introductory options are just part of why you should have the card.  There are also benefits like 50,000 pounds for motor legal protection, discounted motor benefits, and free travel accident insurance.  The motor benefits can be discounts on new tyres, maintenance for your car or even air filters can be discounted.  Most often the discounts will occur through the gas company the card is from.  Like the Shell card from our example.  You would only be able to get the best discounts when you purchase through Shell affiliated companies.
